American Baby Names
American baby names reflect the multi-cultural diversity that is the United States. Immigrants clamoring to get into the country were often illiterate and too concerned with life and death to be worried about how their names were spelled on official papers. Immigrants facing discrimination often dropped the trademark characteristics of their names. Hence, names were often assigned from biblical references. American baby names such as Jedediah and Jacob are making a comeback with a modern twist as Jed or Jake. American baby names have seen a recent trend also in place names such as Dallas and Ridge. Flower names such as Violet and Rose have always been around but a modern twist has brought Holly, Ivy, and Willow into the limelight. Jewel names have also received a modern makeover. Opal, Pearl and Ruby have been exchanged with Amber and Jade. More and more, parents are coining new names from combinations of their own names such as Shana. Popular baby boy names include Michael, Joshua, Ethan, Matthew, and Jacob. Popular baby girl names include Emma, Madison, Isabella, and Ava.
