Whether you want to call them unusual, unique, rare, exotic or odd baby names the non-mainstream names that are loved by some can be interesting at the least, and eyebrow raising in other instances. There are many reasons why the parents may want to use an odd baby name for their child, but one thing that should be kept in mind is the affects of that name in the child's life and it's life as an adult. This is not to say that unusual and unique baby names are to be avoided at all costs, but rather that parents should weigh the benefits and disadvantages of picking an exotic baby name for their child.
Of course not all rare baby names are odd enough to be the cause of an actual change in someone's life, so one need not completely abandon the idea of picking an odd baby name.
